Financial healthThe private equity group Carlyle is reported to acquire a 17.3% stake in Yashili Group for an undisclosed amount. Yashili is one of the biggest infant milk producers in China. China’s domestic dairy industry has been hit hard by the incidence of San Lu, in whose baby milk excessive quantity of melamine has been found and caused lethal illness to some of the babies. Carlyle’s move follows some of the other private equity firms to invest in China’s infant milk sector.
