China CO2 Emission high in total but low in per capita (中国二氧化碳排放总量高人均低)China has been long critisized as the biggest CO2 emission producer, particularly by OECD countries lead by USA. It is backed by the statistics that China’s CO2 emission is now world’s No.1 in total (See graph). According to vaious sources, China’s CO2 emission is either above or below that of USA’s. The two country’s emission add up to about 40% of world’s total output. However, a fact that can not be ignored is that China has much bigger population than USA, and most other countries. Based on the CO2 emission per capita, China falls far from America, which is the biggest in the world, and other industrialized countries, such as Canada, EU, Japan and South Korea. The world’s average CO2 emission per capita is about 4.24 metric tons per head. Among the top ten world’s CO2 emission countries, only India is below that level and China is barely over. All the rest far exceeds the world average.
