Mr. Obama’s trip to Beijing tops the headline of most newspapers this week. However, whether the trip yields any benefit that American government hops is a question mark (See Article from NYT). Up till now, it seems that the fruits that Obama has reaped are limited. Several points on Obama’s priority list, such as Iran Sanction, RMB Exchange rate and Climate policy seem still bearing difference of opinions between the two countries. Washington’s think tank, however, is relaxed on the outcome of this visit per sei. According to them, such a vist is just a first step in the relationship building between Obama and Hu and shall return with benefits for America in the long run.

Change takes time, and going into this Asia trip, the American government should not have any expectations for this trip to solve or fix anything immediately. I would have to say that this trip seems to have been a nice leap towards goodwill and strengthening relationships between America and parts of Asia. Asia Chronicle has been providing some good insight on the issues facing China. Worth a read I think. http://www.asiachroniclenews.com
