China Tells

Adam Smith is one of the greatest Western Economists in history. His master piece Wealth of Nation has been translated to multiple languages and receives serious attention in a lot of countreis, including China (See Article from Times Online). One of the most famous quotes from the book is the ‘invisible hands’ from the market to allocate resource and beneft human society to a greatest extent. Few people, however, notice that Adam Smith does not believe that market can solve 100% of all the issues. In his another book Theory of Moral Sentiments, Smith stressted the importance of share the benefit of economic development and care for the poor. Such a view is greatly appreciated by China’s prime minister, Wen Jiabao.

亚当斯密因其国富论被追捧为当代西方经济学的教父级大师。其关于市场是无形的手的理论更是被世代的经济学者捧为圣经般的金玉良言。但可能很少人知道，亚当斯密绝非相信市场的有效性可以解决一切问题。事实上在他的另一本著作道德理论中，斯密谈到了很多市场无法解决的问题，这对于当前信奉资本主义金钱至上的中国可谓一剂良方。
