China government has shoveled about $1.27 Trillion into the economy during Jan-Sept in 2009. That makes China a leading country in the world for fiscal expansion. Such a measure is decisive and effective in holding up the economy, but there is potential concern of long term consequence (See Article from Fortune). According a recent research report from Pivot, China’s debt level has reached 140% of the GDP recently, which is a big increase from the past (See Graph of Chinatells). I am not sure what is the basis that Pivot made their conclusion upon, but if it is an accurate estimate, then China’s debt level could be a real ‘outlier’ among BRICs, though still way below that of Western countries’.
