China has the potential to become world’s largest E-Book Market (See Article from WSJ). According to a latest estimate, China’s e-reader sales is expected to jump from 800K in 2009 to 3 Million in 2010. By 2015, China is likely to surpass USA to become world’s largest e-reader market. However, there is no free lunch on the street. There are also a few hurdles of challenge to tackle the world’s biggest market. The first one is piracy control and Intellectual Property protection. Due to the lack of protection on patent rights, International E-reader makers are reluctant to promote their products in China, giving away the market to Chinese domestic makers, who charge a high price for the device. In addition, the legality and source of the book for downloading is also an issue that need to be tackled. Despite all these obstacles, however, there are great potential for companies to take a cut in the big pie of China’s online book market.

中国可能在2015年之前成为世界上最大的电子书籍和阅读器市场。根据最新估计，中国09年售出了80万台电子书籍阅读器，该数据在09年可能上涨到3百万台。当然目前中国的电子书籍市场还有一些法律和知识产权等方面的问题需要解决。但是总体来说，中国电子书刊的市场前景不可忽视。
