According to a latest estimate on China’s demographic development, China’s young population (20-29 year old) will reach its peak by 2015. Since 2015 the size of such population will continue to go down year by year. Such a trend has the following implication: 1) 20s is an active group of strong consumers. With the population of such group going down, some sectors in the retail industry might be hit, like what happened in Japan; 2) The whole society is likely to go into a country dominated by aged people, which is likely to be shy on innovation and any ambitious growth, and show a conservative style on everything. 2015 is the year when those called post 80s (born after 1980) reaches their mid 30s – they could bear unprecedented pressure to support both old generation and young kids by then.
根据中国最新的人口发展趋势预测,2015年年轻人口(20-29岁)可能达到顶峰。2015年以后,该年龄层次的人口将逐年递减。这样的趋势将可能导致中国在2015年之后的经济进入缓慢发展的阶段。
