Among the top ten World Steel producers in 2009, five are coming from China, according to the latest stats. Arcelor Mittal, the steel group based in Luxemberg, is the largest steel producer in 08 and 09, though their production was sharply down by 30% in 2009. To follow is China’s Heibei I&S, Bao Steel, Posco (Korea) and Wuhan I&S. China’s total production of steel is by far the largest in the world.

It makes sense. Labor is cheaper and the quality of Chinese steel is generally very good.
