The real estate market in China seems to have revived after a disastrous year of 2008. In recent weeks the title of ‘highest bidder of the land’ has been changed for a few times, which is a potential indication of property bubble in the formation.
A notable phenomenon is that most winner of the ‘king of the land’ (which means those who pay the highest price) are state owned. For example, Fang Xing Property, who beat numerous competitions in an open bid for No.15, Guang Qu Road, Beijing, is one of the biggest real estate company owned by Bureau of State Asset. Obviously the recent Bank loan surge, mostly directed to state owned companies, has helped a lot in boosting the confidence and competence of these state owned enterprises. The same situation has been observed in other big cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou. It seems that liquidity is likely to be channeled into Real Estate market through State owned companies with the help of Banks.

It is reported in China that Petro China and BP have won a tender to operate several oil fields in Iraq for a margin of $2/Barrel. Whether there are additional benefits to Petro China other than the mere $2 charge is unclear and remains to be seen. On average, $2/Barrel seems on the extreme low end of market standard in terms of oil field operation. Therefore this deal has aroused some concern on the soundness of this decision among Chinese. China now imports about 50% of its domestic demand of crude oil every year.

A think tank from Chinese government claims that Chinese Yuan (RMB) shall be included into the SDR (Special drawing rights) of IMF. For the moment SDR is composed of USD, Euro, JPY and GBP. The Chinese think tank says that it is time to consider expanding the basket to include CNY and give it a weight of 20%
